Soapberry Soap Molds
When designing this particular project, the focus was to use irony in relation to soap in order to create negative, single part molds from 3D printed positives. For my idea, I wanted to compare the texture soap has to warm pies and the desire to want to eat my model, but is made out of soap. Using my knowledge of CAD software like Rhino 3D, I was able to produce a highly detailed pie slice, make a silicone negative mold and cast glycerin soap to get my desired shape. In order to make my soap look as realistic as possible, I designed a cake-box made out of chipboard and used a laser cutter to engrave my design onto it. I also used shaving cream to look like whipped cream. Designing and eventually making these soap molds introduced me to combining my designer skills with CAD software and my technical skills as an artist to create a captivating, but functional design.
